Welcome to the Inter-Agency Library on Disaster Reduction in its new premises at the International Environment House 2, Geneva, Switzerland.

The Inter-Agency Library for the ISDR reflects the activities of major stakeholders involved in disaster risk reduction. The development of such an inter-institutional network within the United Nations is essential to better acknowledge the international community on accurate and selected information on disasters and natural, environmental and technological hazards.

Disaster management leaders, policy makers, the academic and scientific community, teachers and students, government bodies, NGOs and UN agencies should all benefit from this universal knowledge on risk assessment, disaster reduction applications, vulnerability reduction measures and awareness.

.

It collects books, reports, educational materials, periodicals, proceedings of main conferences and workshops, electronic resources to support the programmes and activities of the Inter-Agency secretariat of the ISDR, the Inter-Agency Task Force on disaster reduction, ISDR units in Latin America, Africa, Asia, UN and non-UN partners, governments, NGOs, as well as the international academic, technical and scientific community.

It also collects proceedings of conferences and workshops on disaster risk reduction such as the World Conference on Disaster Reduction (18-22 January 2005, Kobe, Hyogo, Japan).

After the Indian Ocean Disaster of 26 of December 2004, the library compiles specific documentation on this disaster including lessons learned, reports, early warning systems, educational materials.
